Template Instructions
Making a template for windows will require the following items:
- Thin cardboard (chipboard) for scissor cutting a window to fit an opening.
- Paper masking to place over an existing window for tracing.
- Pencil & Marker – Fine line Sharpie preferred.
Template Kits are available for $10.00 from Clear One. A full refund of kit cost will be provided upon order placement.
Existing Polycarbonate Flat Window Replacement
Find a flat surface with enough room to place your tracing material and accommodate the entire surface of your window.
1) Remove window from car and place on top of tracing material, ensuring that there are no wrinkles in the material below. Chipboard works best.
2) With your marker trace the outside of the window edge.
3) Repeat for all windows needing replacement.
4) Roll template material and place in mailing tube.
5) Complete Clear One Windows order sheet.
6) Ship to Clear One.
Windows will be cut following the template markings, please make any necessary adjustments on the template to ensure proper fit. Clear One will not be responsible for template errors.
Replacing Glass with Flat Polycarbonate
Find a flat surface with enough room to place your tracing material and accommodate the entire surface of your window.
1) Remove window from car and place on top of tracing material, Chipboard works best.
2) Using tape, affix the chipboard to the edge of the glass in 4 to 6 areas to make sure there is no movement.
3) With your marker trace the outside of the window edge.
4) If maintaining stock trim you will need to follow the glass edge. For bolt on applications you will need to make the window a bit larger.
5) You are ready to test fit your template, using scissors cut the cardboard template approximately ½” outside of your mark. Test fit to your car and make all final trimming.
6) Repeat for all windows needing replacement.
7) Roll template material and place in mailing tube.
8) Complete Clear One Window order sheet.
9) Ship to Clear One.
